Gasthaus zur Fernsicht,
Heiden, Switzerland
The terrace at Gasthaus zur Fernsicht in the Swiss municipality of Heiden offers a stunning view over
nearby Lake Constance. But the venue’s greatest attractions are its restaurant and its wine cellar.
Executive Chef and Managing Director Tobias Funke is one of Switzerland’s top chefs. He became
Gault&Millau’s youngest newcomer of the year in 2011 and was awarded 16 Gault&Millau points and
a Michelin star. At his gourmet restaurant INCANTARE, he blends innovation with tradition. He calls
the result “Swiss Alpine food”. Tobias Funke works closely with selected local farmers, cheesemakers,
and vegetable and fruit producers, who supply all of his ingredients. The culinary treat is rounded off
by a wine cellar which is one of a kind. It contains some 1,000 different wines, just waiting to
complement the dishes prepared by the chef and his team.
